P. R. Read
Paddock Richmond Read was born on November 16, 1807, in Taunton, the son of Joseph Read. His first appearance in the photography business in Taunton is in 1856 where he is listed in the Boston Business Directory. He is first listed in the Taunton Directory as an ambrotypist in 1857 with a studio at 7 Main Street. He lost his studio to fire on November 27, 1859 when the block was destroyed. In 1861 his studio is listed at 7 Union Block and remains so through 1869. From 1872 to his death in 1877 his studio is listed at 6 City Square. Sometime before his death he appears to entered into a partnership with Alexander Rankin. The address associated with this is partnership is 6 City Square.
