Edgar S. Thayer  

 

Edgar Shepard Thayer was born in Taunton on August 28, 1838.  He was one of the first officers appointed to the department and served between 1865 and 1867.  He eventually became a police officer and a deputy sheriff in Providence, RI, where he died May 21, 1908.
