Joseph F. Grady was born in Taunton on March 14, 1867 and died in Taunton on June 24, 1957. He was appointed to the police department in 1903 and served until his retirement in 1942.

Grady, a retired Taunton policeman, died early this morning in his 91st year at the Simmons Nursing Home, East Taunton following a long illness. He was the widower of the late Mary E. (Harrigan) Grady, with whom he formerly made his home at 88 Cedar Street. He joined the police force as a patrolman Jan 07, 1903, and retired May 28, 1942. His service included about 15 years as a plainclothesman. He was a member of the Taunton Police Relief Association. Son of the late James and Margaret (Driscoll) Grady, he was born in this city and was educated in the Taunton public schools. Mr. Grady was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. Surviving is a son, J. Carlton Grady of Natick.
