Harold Joseph Cleary         

Harold J. Cleary was born on July, 8, 1919. Cleary was appointed a reserve officer on October 6, 1942, and patrolman on March 26, 1946. He served until his retirement in 1975. His father also served the department. He died in Taunton on July 22, 1982.

Funeral from the O'Keefe Funeral Home Saturday Jul 24 at 8 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in Holy Family Church at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to be present. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memoriam in his honor may be made to the charity of your choice. Same page Harold J. Cleary, 63, a former city police officer, husband of Elizabeth M. (Donovan) Cleary of 488 County Street, died this morning at Morton Hospital following a long illness. Born in Taunton, son of the late John F. and Madeline (Murphy) Cleary, he attended St. Mary's School and Msgr. James Coyle High School. He served during World War Two with the Army and was a member of David F. Adams Post 611 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served as a patrolman with the Taunton Police Department and retired in 1966 after 20 years of service. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Harold J. Jr. and Donald L. both of Taunton; a daughter, Mrs. Richard K. (Elizabeth M.) Ploude of East Taunton; a sister, Mrs. Frederick (Madeline M.) Dooley of Citrus Springs, Florida; and 10 grandchildren.
